It is produced mainly in the municipalities of Pacco, Trapani, Erice and Valderice. The cultivation is carried out in dry or with minimal irrigation, both in flat terrain and in hilly areas. Resistant to numerous adversities, both physiological and parasitic, it can be obtained in some years without resorting to chemical treatments.
The yellow melon has a white pulp, crunchy and fragrant, with a sweet and fresh taste. It contains vitamin C and a lot of beta-carotene, which stimulates the functionality of the skin, preventing the damage of UV rays. Rich in fiber and water, the white melon is purifying and promotes the elimination of toxins. It is rich in minerals such as calcium and potassium (the latter is due diuretic action).
