Mrke: Val di Suga
grape varieties
Sangiovese Grosso 100% from “Vigna Spuntali”, a vineyard situated on the southwestern and warmest side of Montalcino, at a height of approximately 300 meters a.s.l. It is the oldest geological area of Montalcino, offering moderately loose-packed soil with areas containing sand and vulcanic lapilli. On the seafront, it reaps the advantages of a special microclimate that brings out the strong points of Sangiovese, making it particularly rich, structured, fruity and mature.
techniques of production
It ferments in cement vats for approximately 20 days at a temperature of approximately 25/ 30°C. After a 24 month maturation in 300-L French oak barrels it undergoes at least 24 months of bottle aging.
average annual production
Only in the best vintages, we produce about 15.000 bottles (i.e. 1.250 9 Lt. cases) and 500 magnum bottles
tasting notes:
colour: Intense ruby red, purple with aging
aroma: Complex and very elegant, with generous fruit, with spicy richness, hints of chocolate
taste: Great balance and body; very long finish. A full and powerful expression of Sangiovese Grosso
food pairing: Excellent with game, grilled and roast meat and cheese
